Founded in 2001 and the only Australian provider of accredited training in heritage trade skills, Flexible Construction Training & Assessment (FCTA) – Building Careers, delivers four qualifications (in bricklaying, stonemasonry, tiling, and heritage trade skills) to learners.
FCTA’s contact with industry and domestic partnerships with the National Trust of South Australia and Renewal SA give learners access to heritage sites for training and work.
Industry expertise broadens FCTA’s training with supplier representatives conducting workshops on Australian Standards, Building Codes, proper use of materials, best practices, and common failings onsite.
After training with the Scottish Lime Centre Trust, FCTA’s heritage trade trainer uses the latest approaches to training complicated restoration techniques, and apprentices can access a Summer Placement Scholarship with the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship in England.
FCTA’s Stonemasonry Scholarship Programme aims to attract trainers and encourage women into the industry.
