Small Employer of the Year

This award recognises a small enterprise that has achieved excellence in providing nationally recognised training to its employees.

Nationally recognised training refers to training based on a national training package or accredited course that results in a person receiving a formal qualification or Statement of Attainment issued by an RTO. This includes Australian apprenticeships and traineeships.

CJM Electrical Services

CJM Electrical Services (CJM) installs and commissions HVAC systems to commercial and industrial buildings.

Company culture is paramount to CJM’s success; prioritising training and internal promotion encourages employee loyalty.

Of 18 full-time employees, 44% are involved in training: the majority are undertaking a Certificate III in Electrotechnology; the office manager is completing a Diploma of Business.

TAFE SA delivers off-the-job training while PEER provides support as the group training organisation. Apprentices are paired with qualified electricians for guidance, support, and training; this relationship fosters individual growth, educational friendship bonds, and consistency in the on-the-job training apprentices receive.

CJM project managers, all fully qualified electricians, oversee work, provide quality control, and offer further guidance.

The Institute of Training and Further Education delivers the Diploma of Business; senior management provides mentorship and insight into a dynamic, competitive industry.

The quality of training reflected in the high standard of work positively impacts client relationships.
