The WorldSkills Australia National Championships and Skills Show

WorldSkills Australia aims to promote and build a skills culture, celebrate excellence and showcase vocational education and training. The WorldSkills Australia National Championships and Skills Show are held biennially and serve as Australia’s biggest vocational education and excellence competition and skills showcase. The competitions will see Australia’s best apprentices, trainees and students go head-to-head to be recognised as Australia’s best in their trade.

The event will feature competitions in key sectors like construction, manufacturing, IT, health, hospitality, and many others. Over 600 of the country’s finest apprentices, trainees, and skilled professionals will battle it out for gold, and a chance to represent Australia on the world stage.

The Road to Nationals

The skills-based competitions operate at regional, national and international levels, and are aligned to National Training Packages, Apprenticeships Australia and Jobs Australia schemes. The National Championship is Australia’s biggest vocational education and excellence competition.

Regional

Every two years, over 500 Regional Competitions take place across 34 regions in Australia. These events showcase the talents of more than 4,000 apprentices, trainees, and students, who compete to advance to the national stage.

The next Regional Competition is in 2026.

National

Held over three days, top performers from the Regional Competitions go head-to-head for the title of the country's best in their respective trades and skills.

This major event runs every two years, alternating with the Regional and International competitions.

International

Every two years, the top talent from the national competitions come together as the Skillaroos to represent Australia and compete against 86 member countries for the title of the world’s most skilled nation.
