MTA Training and Employment (MTA), the Motor Trade Association SA/NT’s registered training organisation, delivers industry-leading vocational education across metropolitan and regional South Australia to over 1,100 apprentices across nine automotive trades, servicing not only the automotive sector but also mining and emergency services.
MTA’s innovative blended training model combines self-paced online learning, face-to-face workshops, on-site visits, and workplace-based assessments, providing flexibility for both apprentices and employers while ensuring compliance with national curriculum standards and exposure to the latest industry technology.
As a leader in electric vehicle training, MTA launched South Australia’s first dedicated Electric Vehicle Training Centre and upgraded its Royal Park facility with a new Automotive Technology Vehicle Centre.
In an Australian first, MTA successfully applied to the South Australian Skills Commission to establish dual trade occupations, combining light- or heavy-vehicle apprenticeships with an automotive electrical apprenticeship. This approach reduces the time required to gain two separate qualifications and equips apprentices efficiently with the skills to work on zero- and low-emission vehicles in a rapidly evolving automotive industry.
