Adelaide Training & Employment Centre (ATEC)

Adelaide Training and Employment Centre (ATEC) is dedicated to transforming workforce development. For over 36 years, ATEC has addressed unemployment challenges and priority trade skills shortages, supporting over 1,550 apprentices across industries including mechanical engineering, fabrication, engineering production, general construction, and electrical engineering.

ATEC delivers nationally recognised, industry-led training through two purpose-built centres and mobile regional programs, offering flexible, personalised learning pathways that integrate hands-on projects, virtual simulations, and blended learning. The state’s first Carpentry Centre of Excellence at Lonsdale serves as a hub for skills updates, career guidance, and professional development.

Guided by values of Adaptability, Teamwork, Excellence, Commitment, Integrity, and Respect, ATEC supports diverse learners—including school students, apprentices, job seekers, and existing workers—through mentoring, coaching, and industry-integrated placements. ATEC combines practical training, employer partnerships, and personalised support to equip learners with the technical, foundational, and workplace skills needed to succeed and build South Australia’s future workforce.

MTA Training and Employment

MTA Training and Employment, the Motor Trade Association SA/NT’s registered training organisation, delivers industry-leading vocational education across metropolitan and regional South Australia to over 1,100 apprentices across nine automotive trades, servicing not only the automotive sector but also mining and emergency services.

MTA’s innovative blended training model combines self-paced online learning, face-to-face workshops, on-site visits, and workplace-based assessments, providing flexibility for both apprentices and employers while ensuring compliance with national curriculum standards and exposure to the latest industry technology.

As a leader in electric vehicle training, MTA launched South Australia’s first dedicated Electric Vehicle Training Centre and upgraded its Royal Park facility with a new Automotive Technology Vehicle Centre.

In an Australian first, MTA successfully applied to the South Australian Skills Commission to establish dual trade occupations, combining light- or heavy-vehicle apprenticeships with an automotive electrical apprenticeship. This approach reduces the time required to gain two separate qualifications and equips apprentices efficiently with the skills to work on zero- and low-emission vehicles in a rapidly evolving automotive industry.

PEER Education Employment and Training

Driven by industry demand and designed for learner flexibility, PEER delivers training across electrotechnology, plumbing, and refrigeration and air conditioning trades, equipping students with the technical expertise, workplace skills, and professional attributes required to succeed in a rapidly evolving workforce.

Through PEER’s trainer-led Flex Model, electrotechnology apprentices can access learning at their own pace and schedule—whether at home, on site, or at PEER facilities. PEER has also co-developed a model enabling employers to align apprentice training with operational and learner needs, ensuring apprentices remain engaged in meaningful, skill-building activities both on the job and at trade school. This approach enhances learning outcomes, productivity, workforce deployment, and retention.

Supporting this flexible and industry-relevant training, PEER has implemented a digital transformation through its integrated PEER Campus learning and communications platform. Complementing this, the Mobile Electrical Training Unit provides practical, high-quality training in regional South Australia, equipped with industry-standard tools, safety systems, and learning resources, ensuring broad access to high-calibre education across the state.
